About...
The Pont-l’Abbé - Audierne railway line was a single-track, meter-gauge local line, opened in 1912. It was nicknamed the "Train-carottes (Carrot Train)" because it carried significantly more vegetables than passengers! Its final section, from Pont-Croix to Audierne, was shared with another local line, the Douarnenez-Audierne line, known as the "Train Youtar."
It's difficult today to identify this small, flat-roofed concrete building as the passenger building of a former train station. A rather modest building, limited to an open waiting room, a ticket counter, and some storage space, and that's it! There were no permanent staff on site. In fact, this building was one of the standard models of the concessionary company for the Train-carottes line, the Compagnie des Chemins de Fer Armoricains, the C-type, which can be found here and there identically on the company's former network. Economical construction for economical service...
The current building is relatively well preserved compared to its counterparts, which are much more deteriorated or no longer exist. However, it has undergone some alterations: the blocking of access to the waiting room and the partial closure of a side door.
The model is supplied in three versions: a raw concrete version, probably more in keeping with its original appearance, a whitewashed version, and a recent altered version.
